The Art of Weaving

October 14, 2020—am

Join the Hilliard Art Museum's Curator of Exhibitions Ben Hickey for a conversation with Master Spinner and Weaver Elaine Larcade Bourque as they discuss the traditions and history of Acadian brown cotton in Louisiana. Bourque, accompanied by fellow weaver Austin Clark, will demonstrate the process and craft of weaving brown cotton, a practice she learned from her time apprenticing under renowned weaver Gladys LeBlanc, and the two will dive more deeply into the rich practices on view in Acadian Brown Cotton: The Fabric of Acadiana.
